A tentative list

Why yes, that is a baby picture of me on the left.
I keep saying it: Dead White Guys Belated Readathon has come at the right time, and truly, it has. I can catch up with Shakespeare, I can catch up with Woolf, ah, it's going to be a good day!

So, tomorrow, I will mostly be curled up in my armchair reading some of the following:
  • Sense and Sensibility, Jane Austen.
  • Fanny Hill, John Cleland
  • The Prince, Machiavelli
  • Scoop, Evelyn Waugh
  • No Signposts in the Sea, Vita Sackville West
  • The Common Reader Second Series, Virginia Woolf
  • The Europeans, Henry James
  • Between the Acts, Virginia Woolf
  • Three Shakespeare plays, yet to be decided.
Like last time, I'll probably change my mind, pick out new titles, drop the titles on this list, etc, however I am determined to read the Shakespeare, Sense and Sensibility, and the Woolfs. And, like last time, I'll keep checking in, and I'll do a master post with the most recent entries at the top.

As for today, I'll be finishing The Voyage Out and hopefully writing down some thoughts on the re-visiting Virginia Woolf journey so far.

Let me know if you're joing in the read-a-thon as well, so I can check in with you :)

  1. I'm joining tomorrow. I'll probably be checking in on Twitter now and then.

I LOVE Sense and Sensibility!!!! Also, I can't wait to read The Common Reader. I only have the first series right now; I really want the second one. :-)

  2. Sadly, I can't participate, since my wife wants me to do things with her, like clean my house and go to the bank. Whatever.

I love your reads -- some fabulous classics! Can't wait to see your thoughts on the Woolfs and Sackville-West should you get to her!

  5. I'm totally readathoning, but I'm not sure how much I'm going to be checking in because I will be without internet for a big chunk of the day... but we'll see. So far, I can't even be bothered to write a prep post, so I'm apparently not that dedicated to blogging this endeavour! Have lots of reading fun though :)

  6. Thanks, everyone :)

And, Jillian and Laura, as it happens, I won't be checking in too much either, but I will manage a couple of Twitter updates from my mobile.

Audra and Christopher - got lots and lots of Woolf related stuff coming up :) Was going to do a post tonight, but I'm kind of sleepy, and a big mistake I made for last readathon was I didn't go to bed til 6, woke up at 10, then paced around bored til 1pm when it started. I did great until about 5am, and then between 5am and 11am, it was all a blur. In fact all I remember at this moment was standing in the garden for the cold air to wake me up!

Darlyn - not 100% convinced my Sense and Sensibility thoughts are going to be terribly helpful - this is a book I have tried and failed many times, for some reason. But it will be read tomorrow.

  7. I'll be reading a lot tomorrow as well. I'm not sure how often I will update-I think I'll put up a post when I start and update it randomly throughout the day!

Looking forward to your thoughts on all of these!

  8. Very interesting selections-I have read all but the Waugh and the Sack-Ville West-I think her books pass into public domain next year and I hope to read her major works then-I have read one of her short stories and loved it-

  9. I definitely need to read more VSW, I think.

And, as it's all over, you can see: I did not stick to my list. I started well, but the Finnegans Wake happened!
